Some more clues as to how Apple plans to expand iTunes in the near future have developed today. TechCrunch originally reported that Apple had applied for the “iTunes Live” trademark show in the image above. 9to5mac notes that Apple more than likely also owns iTunesLive.com, which is registered by a common third party registar to Apple, Mark Monitor. This has many wondering whether or not their may be a cloud component to iTunes Live. At the very least, the details of the trademark application show Apple is interested in hosting live shows and streaming them through iTunes.
These are the terms of the trademark from the application:
– Online retail store services in the field of entertainment featuring prerecorded musical, audio and audiovisual content
– Entertainment services, namely, arranging and conducting of concerts and live musical performances
Apple has already used the moniker on iTunes releases such as iTunes Live in Soho.
