We told you about the Square Payment System back in February after it was first shown off at MacWorld, now the credit card payment system and accompanying iPhone, iPad, and Android apps are now available for download.
The service will allow iPhone, iPad, and Android users to accept credit card payments with their device of choice via a card reader that uses the device headphone jack. This small, 3.55mm cube peripheral card reader will be given away for free to everyone that signs up. However retailers will pay a fee of a 15 cent surcharge plus 2.75%.
The authentication process is done with a finger signature via touch screen input and the service’s apps will allow for receipts via email or SMS and the ability to calculate taxes. The apps will also provide the ability to manage sales through a handy dashboard.
You can download the Square app here.
Embedded below is the latest add for the official release and launch of the Square Payment System as well as a video demo of the system and app from MacWorld 2010.
