After an 18 year absence on Mac OS X, a Mac compatible version of design software AutoCAD is making an appearance via screenshots of a private beta. The beta is said to be in early stages of development and currently “runs pretty poorly”. Codenamed “Sledgehammer Beta 1”, the private beta runs in 64-bit only with support for Magic Mouse gestures and was apparently first found in the Italiamac forums. There is no word when or if a public beta or release date for the final product will be announced.
AutoCAD is an industry leading 3D and 2D drafting and design application that is an used across a huge number of industries from interior design and construction to product design and engineering. Autodesk, makers of AutoCAD, also currently make a number of Mac-compatible products including Alias Automotive and Alias Design,
