Last month Facebook announced a slew of new features that ended up causing more harm than good. Then there was yesterday’s news that Facebook was planning on rolling out their new updated privacy controls, that would hopefully mend some of the fences. I guess Facebook has kept their word, and has implemented a much easier procedure for locking your Facebook account down. Before today’s updated changes, you previously had to go through a bunch of steps to be able to opt out of Facebook’s new features. It was a real hassle and security experts stated that it didn’t real do much in the way of making your account any safer.
After reviewing today’s changes, Facebook has made it as simple as possible. It will no longer take a half hour to lock down your account. There are 3 new steps a Facebook user must take to make their Facebook page a whole lot safer. Below I slapped together a quick little guide on how-to make your Facebook account safer, with the new updated features.
Step One: Obviously open up your Facebook page, then click on the Account tab in the upper right corner. Once the menu opens, go to Privacy Settings.
Step Two: Once the Privacy Settings page is opened you will see the title “Choose Your New Privacy Settings“. Now the absolute safest choice is Friends Only, just click that button and make sure all the appropriate boxes are filled in with that setting.
Step Three: Simply click Apply These Settings! Now you’re done, and a hopefully a little bit safer!
