While buying a smartphone, people now attach great importance with Wi-Fi capabilities. Having internet access on your phone is can be very convenient whether you are a casual internet user checking your Facebook notifications or a web-dependant worker wanting to view your site’s traffic.
One smartphone that lets us take full advantage of Wi-Fi on phones is the iPhone. Of course, in order to use Wi-Fi on your iPhone you will first need to find a Wi-Fi signal strong enough to facilitate browsing. One way to this would be to raise your iPhone high and roam around until you found a good connection. But a much more practical way is provided by JiWire’s Wi-Fi Finder.
JiWire’s Wi-Fi Finder is an iPhone application that helps users find Wi-Fi hotspots. This app will make use of the GPS function on your phone to obtain your location; it then will show you the nearest Wi-Fi hotspot to you.
Wi-Fi Finder’s OS requirement is iPhone OS 3.0 or later. It works perfectly with iPhone and iPad.
Since it uses GPS and iPod Touch does not have GPS, iPod Touch owners cannot directly take advantage of the Wi-Fi Finder’s service; they can, however, use an alternate approach. Once they get a stable Wi-Fi internet connection, they can use JiWire’s Wi-Fi Finder to download all the locations indexed on its map. There are over 280,000 locations in 140 countries worldwide indexed. With the locations stored on their iPod, they can quickly find out where the nearest Wi-Fi hotspot is.
Wi-Fi Finder, surprisingly, is a free app that can be gotten from the App Store here.
