Apple has begun accepting pre-orders for the new iPhone 4G today, but seems everyone in around the whole world is trying to reserve one at the exact same time! The demand right now is so high, Apple Store and AT&T servers have been failing big time. If you’re like me you’ve probably had no luck all morning, some people have been reporting that the ordering process took over 2 hours, but in most cases a lot of people are still attempting to successfully lockup one of Apple’s newest iPhone.
Along with the Apple Store and AT&T, third party retailers have also begun accepting pre-orders for the new iPhone. This time Apple has included big name retailers Best Buy and Radio Shack in the pre-order extravaganza. Radio Shack is officially taking pre-orders today, Best Buy will not start till next week, but word is that you can reserve on in-store along with a $50 deposit. Also Wal-Mart will be selling the new iPhone come launch day, but they’re not offering it up for pre-order. Wal-Mart will be carrying the iPhone 4G in-store on June 24th.
Getting back to the issue at hand, seems everywhere you go, there is some kind of ordering delay. From what I’ve been reading seems that your best bet is in-store at the Apple Retail Store. There are now some reports that AT&T servers are getting back online, but I haven’t been able to get through yet. Another thing to note is that you can only pre-order the black iPhone 4G. There is no white iPhone 4G available for pre-order and pickup on June 24th. So if you were looking forward to getting a cool looking white iPhone, you’re gonna have to wait. It’s tough to tell what’s true and what’s not, Engadget is reporting that Apple is blocking all third-party pre-orders today. Others are saying in-store purchase is OK at some locations, call ahead just to make sure. And remember there is a 1 phone per person limit, so makes sure it’s for you and not someone else.
Please leave us a comment if you have been successful in ordering today, and where you ordered it from. It would be a big help to fellow readers :)
EDIT: The new Apple Store App for the iPhone is live, and if you can get through, you can pre-order the iPhone 4G with the new app.
