Square Enix has announced official release dates for their Final Fantasy MMO known as Final Fantasy XIV Online. The title will be available for PC on September 30th, with a beta set to take place this July. PlayStation 3 owners will have to wait a little longer with the PS3 version of the game shipping in March 2011.
“We’re presenting players with a new style of online gameplay, that we know will please avid fans of online games, but welcome more casual gamers as well with the variety of gameplay and story-driven content,” said Hiromichi Tanaka, Executive Producer of Final Fantasy XIV.
The standard PC edition of Final Fantasy XIV Online will cost $49.99. The game will also come with a $12.99/month fee with an extra $3.00 per playable character and a maximum of 8 playable characters per account. Starting September 22, a special PC Collector’s Edition will be available for $74.99 that will include a free guest account access for a limited time, map, behind the scenes DVD, 30 day free trial, travel journal, and “security token”. There have been no announcements about PS3 pricing for the title as of yet.
