At the Microsoft Global Exchange (MGX) conference today, Microsoft had announced that it would be distributing Windows Phone 7 to every employee in the company, much the how Google had given Nexus One to its employees for testing (and eventually call it “dog-food”ing).

Windows Phone 7
Microsoft currently employs 90,000 people and so that would be a lot number of phones to distribute. Going this way of feedback, company is hoping to cash on the word-to-mouth marketing strategy of its employees in the last stage of the phone development.
Microsoft employees are already too excited about the news and have started tweeting about this:
@mitchellholder: Every #Microsoft employee will get a Windows Phone 7 …phone. Announced today at #MGX. I’m not even there but I can feel the excitement.
Windows Phone 7 hit the “technical preview” stage at the starting of this week, so we can safely hope that software is very near to be released. It seems that Microsoft employees will be the first beta testers of Windows Phone 7, as we can get our hands on the device only when it is launched in the market in the last part of 2010.

If you’re a developer on the .NET platform and the only way you have to make money is to invest your time in developing an app., the Windows Phone 7 App Store could be your gold rush. Why? Well with 90 000 potential customer in the app store, if you are among the first to have an application in this app store, you have a strong chance to make money. The rumor is that 1 million devices will be sold by Christmas. Even if it’s 500 000 sold, that’s still a chance to make a lot of money with your own application that you can test on a device at DevTeach before the stores open!
If you are into this new gold rush, you must check out the DevTeach Windows Phone 7 Boot Camp. It’s 3 days of training presented in two days in 4 cities. Colin Melia will have a device on site and if you’ve already started an application, you’ll be able to test it on the device during the Boot Camp. Check out the details of this boot camp at this link: http://www.devteach.com/SpecialEvent.aspx
Actually that’s not exactly the truth..
MS employees will not have to pay the $199 (or so) price but will still have to sign up a contract with the local cellular provider.
And everybody knows the big money is in the contract…
so MS employees will just get a $199 discount :)
