Amazon is all set to go Android. According to reports, Amazon would be unveiling its own share of the Android App Store. Insider reports have further revealed that the new Android App Store which is being unleashed by Amazon would be more or the same like the much successful Apple’s App Store. The store would offer its own version which would further on offer various applications including its own software.
The Amazon Android Store would ask for $99 sign up from developers, just the way Apple does and would in return get a same revenue share of 70:30 split. As Amazon would be launching its part of the Android Store, it would be incharge. What stays and what goes would be up to Amazon. It is also told that Amazon would restrict developers from selling their App cheaper on other platforms.
Limitations continue for the developers such as if your App is on any other platform, it has to be on the same time be on Amazon’s store, Apps would need to be framed with the Amazon DRM, etc.
For start, the Amazon Android Store would launch as a U.S. only version, while later on expanding to other regions. Another thing to note, while the company has decided to launch the Android App Store on its end, will it be preparing for a tablet too, obviously Android based to support the Amazon Android App Store?
