It was just an year ago that Microsoft had released an operating system called Windows 7, which went onto to become one of the fastest selling operating system in the history of computers. Microsoft has already sold more than 240 million copies of Windows 7 OS within a span of one year.
While the successful Windows 7 OS continues to grow its market and potential reach, the giant over Redmond is not sitting and enjoying in its glory. Microsoft is already working on the next version of its operating system, that will be released to the market in 2 years.
According to a report posted on Winrumors, Microsoft has posted clearly on its dutch site that

Also the CEO Steve Ballmer has recently said that the next iteration of Microsoft’s Windows OS will be Microsoft’s “riskiest product bet”, going by the huge success of Windows 7. Is Microsoft risking its market position too soon with this announcement? Windows Vista was a big disaster in the history of Microsoft products and over a span of one year companies and home users have become totally confident in using the new Windows 7 OS. But it still falls short of the market reach that Windows XP had gained. Microsoft should continue to work on some ground-breaking technologies that will power Windows 8 OS, but for mass reach and market profitability Windows 7 is doing the trick right now and it should not mess with that too soon.
