PayPal, the leading online payment giant allowing payments and money transfers, operating in more than 190 markets and database of 223 million accounts has introduced the new Mobile Express Checkout allowing users to make purchases across apps and merchants with a single mobile login. Several new innovations, one of them offering a click payment system, have been unveiled for the mobile users by PayPal announced at the PayPal Innovate 2010 Conference more known as the PayPal X Developer Conference.
The PayPal Innovate 2010 Conference held on Tuesday brought in one of the biggest announcement with the launch of PayPal Mobile Express Checkout. PayPal introduced a two-click payment system for mobile devices introducing a mobile payments library which offers split payments.
A partnership was also announced at the conference with PayPal expanding hands with Verifone to bring ”bump” technology to the Verifone PAYWare app.
Osama Bedier, Vice President Platform and New Ventures for Paypal, told:
PayPal has struggled with mobile payments before, including a pay-by-text service that really never took off. We learned that the world wasn’t ready to pay on their phones yet but the opportunity is massive.
PayPal is known to be the solid arm of eBay. eBay has witnessed a trend in company’s revenue and deems PayPal’s presence as a key tool to its uplift. PayPal also announced a version of its service for the payment of virtual goods.
The newly unveiled feature of Mobile Express Checkout lets users to check in and remain check in PayPal while surfing the web and making purchases via their mobile devices. Starbucks have punched in to announced the availability of Mobile Express Checkout at its stores. Users can now directly pay via Starbucks Card Mobile app through their iPhone and iPod Touch.
