Hot off the heels of Sony launching the on-demand Qriocity on-demand video service in Europe, the company is now reportedly launching a similar service for PSP handhelds in the forthcoming v6.35 firmware update.
Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity service is described by Sony as, “a new, cloud-based, digital music service from Sony that will give music lovers access to millions of songs stored and synchronized through the cloud.”
Once the update goes live, PSP users will notice a new icon for the service located under “Music” in the device’s XrossMediaBar menu. Furthermore, the Media Go app for managing PSP content on PCs will also be updated “with enhancements to the user interface and advanced photo editing tools.”
There’s no word on a release date yet, but we will keep you posted when Sony provides more info on the v6.35 PSP firmware update. Could this be the first step to getting the PSP software ready for a potential PlayStation Phone or PSP 2?
