After a short beta period, the godfather of Android hacking, Cyanogen has finally released CyanogenMod 6.1 Stable. It is built off Android 2.2.1. This latest release brings the usual bug fixes, additions, enhancements, and updated packages. A quick rundown of the many new features include:
- Update to Android 2.2.1
- Touch-to-focus the camera (along with other camera improvements)
- Set quiet hours for your notifications
- Improved caching performance
- Fixed problems with Assisted GPS
- Lock Screen gesture support (unlock phone, enable camera, turn on flashlight, etc.
Most importantly with this release is the added support for a bunch of new devices. We all can remember when CyanogenMod was available for just the G1/HTC Dream. Nowadays almost every major Android handset is supported in some capacity. The only thing is that there is NO Samsung Galaxy S support yet. It was thought that the Galaxy S variants would get officially support in this release, but it looks like they will probably have to wait for Cyanogen 7. Here is the list of officially supported devices:
- Nexus One
- HTC Aria
- HTC Dream / HTC Magic
- Motorola Droid
- HTC Desire GSM
- HTC Evo
- HTC Slide
- HTC Hero CDMA
- HTC Hero GSM
- HTC Incredible
- HTC Legend
- HTC Desire CDMA
- HTC Desire Z / G2
- z71 Variants
- Geeksphone ONE
