We’ve shown you Twitter extensions for Chrome in the past that integrates the social network’s features directly into browser buttons and sidebars. A similar add-on for Firefox will allow you to post tweets directly to Twitter via the browser’s address bar.
TwitterBar adds a small icon to the right of your address bar, clicking it will allow you to post any text entered in the address bar as a tweet. You can also type “–post” at the end of your tweet to automatically post it. If a URL is currently in the address bar, clicking the TwitterBar icon will post it as link on Twitter.
Hovering over the icon will show you how many characters you have left. Typing “-search” following text in the address bar will search Twitter.
The latest version of the add-on allows you to manage multiple Twitter accounts. Typing “–account” into the address bar will allow you add a new account. You can also type “–@’account_name’” at the end of your tweet to post to a specific account. If you do not do this, you will be prompted to select an account.
To access the add-on’s options, type “–options” into the address bar.
You can download TwitterBar here for Firefox 3.5 to 4.0b8pre. It also works with mobile browsers. You can get TwitterBar for mobile Firefox by scanning the QR code below.
