Reports are coming in claiming Apple’s MobileMe cloud syncing service is currently being blocked in Saudi Arabia. When visiting the service’s me.com URL, Saudi users are greeted with webpage in Arabic and English claiming the government has restricted access to the service.
Some Saudi users are claiming that they can still access the site using https://, while others say navigating directly to specific pages such as me.com/mail allows access to the site.
The Saudi government has been no stranger to censorship online. Most recently, the government suspended use of RIM’s Blackberry messenger service on the grounds of national security. They continued the banning until coming to an undisclosed settlement with RIM.
