The Google TV has been finally jailbroken! Back in November, Howard Harte announced a reward of $1000 for the first person to jailbreak the Google TV so that he could start porting his apps to the platform. Finally, after three months a group called GTVHacker Dev Team has cracked the code. GTVHacker dev team has jailbroken the Google TV using a combination of software and hardware hacks.
GTVHacker Dev Team has posted a 6 minute video on Youtube, which shows the jailbroken Google TV. GTVHacker Dev Team used the Logitech Revue to jailbreak the Google TV. The jailbreak allows the Google TV to run some apps from the Android Market. The hack also allows streaming TV services such as Hulu to run on the Google TV platform. According to Howard Harte, the Google TV jailbreak will allow the developers to develop their own apps for Google TV, even before Google allows them itself.
According to the GTVHacker Dev Team, now it should be possible for Rovio to port Angry Birds to the Google TV. It means that, soon you will be able to play your favorite Angry Bird game on the largest screen of your house. Till then check out the 6 minute video posted by the GTVHacker Dev Team below.
