Olive Telecom recently launched the India’s first HSPA+ smartphone, the Olive Smart V-S300. This handset is also the India’s first smartphone powered by the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS. It comes with a large 4.1 inch touchscreen display and a 1 GHz processor. The Olive Smart is a re-branded version of the Huawei IDEOS X6, which was announced last year. Olive Smart features a 4.1 inch touchscreen display with 800 x 480 pixels resolution, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system, 1 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 processor, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, Wi-Fi 802.11/b/g, 3G Connectivity, 5 megapixel camera with HD (720p) video recording, 0.3 megapixel front facing camera and so on.
Other features include a 3.5mm headset jack, Micro USB, MicroSD card slot, 32 GB expandable memory, HDMI Port, 2GB ROM, 512MB RAM, G-Sensor, Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, DLNA support, Flash 10.1 support, Android Market, SNS integration, In-Built GPS & Maps application, up to 300 mins talk-time, up to 300 hrs standby time and a 1400 mAH battery.
This handset measures 122 x 66 x 9.9mm and weighs 143 grams. Olive smart comes with a price tag of Rs. 19,999. Currently, only 3 smartphones are powered by the Android 2.3 OS – Google Nexus S, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc and Olive Smart. Out of which, the first two phones may or may not be launched in India.
