Microsoft To Release Kinect For Windows SDK


Software giant, Microsoft, has announced plans on releasing the Kinect Software Developer Kit (SDK), giving users a chance to create apps for the Xbox motion-control system. With the release, Developers would be able to create games and other apps for the Kinect hands-free motion controller for the entertainment console.

According to an internal source, the company plans on releasing the SDK for Kinect this Spring and would be offering it as a free download from Microsoft’s website. Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business unit in collaboration with Microsoft Research, have initiated development on the Kinect SDK.

In a blog post, the company noted:

The community that has blossomed since the launch of Kinect for Xbox 360 in November shows the breadth of invention and depth of imagination possible when people have access to groundbreaking technology.¬†Already, researchers, academics and enthusiasts are thinking through what’s next in natural and intuitive technology.

Back in November, Microsoft launched the gaming system which gained fame in a short period of time, becoming the company’s hottest selling product.
