Wow! Simply, Wow. Wondering where was I when Google officially gave out free laptops to attendees? Most probably, still at work, blogging as usual, part of my favorite hobby. As in most cases, during most large conferences, attendees are offered a swag. This year, at the Game Developers Conference, for those who managed to sit in one of Google’s two sessions on Chrome, walked out with something exceptional, rather being handed out with a free GDC tote bag, they got a laptop.
During the sessions, Google handed developers with blue cards. Dev’s were told that they could exchange it at the end of the day for a “surprise gift”. No one expected that surprise gift to be in form of a laptop, all attendees with the blue cards ended up with a Cr-48.
A standalone computer powered with the strong and powerful Chrome Operating system. Google is in the habit to handing out valuable items with earlier the company offering free HTC Evo 4G cell phones to Google I/O attendees last year and before that the HTC Magic.
No specific numbers were available of the Cr-48 notebooks handed out to developers but Google reported on having enough to supply all attendees of both sessions.
