Hotpot is a new service launched by Google lately and is gaining popularity. It lets users comment about and rate the places they have visited. The new update to Google Maps for Android lets users post post reviews about places to Twitter. Also since the last update, users can also check-in through Latitude in Google Maps for Android. Now with the new update, users checking at places with Latitude can now “earn status” with it. No further information has been provided about how and what type of status will be given.
With the new update you can now also invite other friends to check-in with you at Hotpot locales, by sending them a request right from the app. This is something that Facebook has implemented with its check-in service (places), but is not live on its Facebook app for Android at all places.
Also now, you can search for places to check-in when it fails to show up according to your current location.
The new Google Maps for Android 5.2 update is already live and you should have got an update notification on your Android device. If not, you can go ahead and grab it from the Android Market on the web.
