Even with the news of Nokia partnering with Microsoft for developing phones running Windows Phone 7, is it not stopping them from cashing on the last segment of the smartphone market they have been able to penetrate with the popularity of Nokia N8.
Nokia has announced a new Symbian 3 OS powered smartphone ‘Astound’ for $79 with T-mobile. The smartphone will go on sale on T-mobile exclusively and the consumers would have to subscribe to $10 monthly data plan from T-mobile which would give them 250 MB free data usage per month.
As for the specs of the phone, it is powered by the latest Symbian OS 3. The processor powering the phone is decent running at 620 Mhz. The phone will have an internal memory of 300 MB. The phone will come pre-bundled with some apps which includes Slacker Radio. Other apps can be downloaded conviniently downloaded from the Ovi app store. The company is aiming to sell 150 million units of Nokia Astound.
