Last year, Samsung launched its very own apps store, the Samsung Apps for the Bada OS powered smartphones. The Samsung Apps service first began with the Samsung Wave smartphone in June 2010. Samsung Apps crossed the 10 million download mark within 3 months and after 10 months of its launch, Samsung recently announced that the Samsung Apps has finally hit the 100 million downloads mark.
“We are anticipating that Samsung Apps will show a rapid growth in 2011, especially with a variety of the upcoming bada device line-up” said Kang-Hyun Kwon, Senior Vice President of Media Solution Center, Samsung Electronics. “Through consistent service improvement and high-quality app selections, we will continue to offer optimised application services for Samsung smartphones.”
Samsung Apps are exclusively available for Bada powered smartphones. Currently, Samsung Apps has more than 13,000 apps for download. Samsung Apps is available in more than 120 countries, out of which France had the highest number of downloads, followed by Germany and Spain.
To celebrate the 100 million milestone, Samsung has launched a weekly prize draw for customers. To participate in the weekly prize draw, you’ll just need to download any app from the Samsung Apps. The lucky winners will get the Samsung Galaxy Tablet, Galaxy Player, USB sticks or vouchers from the Samsung Apps. The weekly draw will end on April 30, 2011.
