For quite some time we have been hearing iPhone OS 4.0 rumors. AppleInsider one of trustworthy and primary source of many Apple inside news is reporting one more rumor related to iPhone OS 4.0, multitasking feature which has been demanded by iPhone users from quite long time.
As per AppleInsider iPhone OS 4.0 multitasking feature will allow user to switch back and forth between third party applications. If you have noticed, iPhone OS 3.x.x already supports multitasking though it is restricted to only few core apps of iPhone like making calls and using email, text messaging or any other third party application at the same time.
From time to time we have been hearing rumored iPhone multitasking feature which turned out to be false in past. However this time to backup this rumor 9to5Mac also reporting references of multitasking in recently released iPhone OS SDK. Below is screenshot of mentioning of multitasking in iPhone OS SDK,

The above reference has been found in /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.2.sdk/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ApplicationScripting.framework/springboard/SpringBoard.js file.
