Popular PC action RPG Torchlight, made by the creators of Fate, Diablo, and Mythos, may be coming to a console near you in the near future. Of course, many RPG games of this nature have suffered from poor ports in the past largely in part to the inability to port the point and click control scheme of this style of game to consoles that, in the past, relied on completely tactile, button based controls. However, with the success of the Wii, and the announcement of Playstation Move and Microsoft Natal, maybe a point and click control scheme taking advantage of a console’s new motion controllers might make more sense and make the transition of porting PC point and click based RPGs to the major consoles a little easier for developers.
Kotaku reported developers of Torchlight Runic Games commenting on the idea of porting the title to consoles,“We’re going to put some serious effort into it — pretty quick — getting ‘Torchlight’ onto consoles,” Max Schaefer, CEO of Runic games says.”There’s a lot of really cool things about the console world, too, that would work well with our game.”
A quick side note for the BlogsDNA.com community, Runic Games currently has job openings for 3D Environment Artist and Level Designer positions. Click here to learn more.
