Today the Google Voice Android app got a nice little update. Originally alerts for voice and text messages came every 15 minutes, but today the Google Voice Mobile team released an update called Inbox synchronization. Which basically sends all alerts to your Android device in real time. It was quicker before to get the notifications from your email than thru the actual alerts. Now with the new update, If you enable Inbox Synchronization, alerts will hit your phone within seconds. Also if decide to turn it off, it will stop all forwarding of text messages to your phone, which is handy if you have a monthly limit of text messages.
There is also a change to your contact list. They have added a handy toolbar that appears when you click on a contact’s avatar, as you can see from the screenshot the toolbar has a Google Talk button, gmail, SMS and voice call button. Saves a whole a l0t a time when you want to contact your friends. The updated Google Voice app is ready for download via the Android Market. (via Google Voice blog)
