The wave of Android 2.1 updates to various devices is officially underway. Well it has been official, since last week, where Milestone owners in Hong Kong were able to get the update from Motorola servers. Well it seems that some Milestone owners outside of Hong Kong have said that received the update to 2.1 via OTA (over-the-air) There is nothing officially confirmed, but I assume it will take some time for it to reach all parts of Europe. What does this mean for Verizon and Droid owners? Well nothing at the moment. It is still TBD.
Anyways Milestone owner will now have a new 9 panel homescreen and some new app support. For example a new Motorola based camera app, Facebook, new Quickoffice app, and Motorola Car Home interface for in-car usage of the device. The biggest thing that users are reporting is the overall performance increase of the Milestone. Now Verizon Droid owners have a lot to look forward to. If you cant wait for the OTA message to appear on your Motorola Milestone, then you can try and update the phone manually. You can download the file you need here, from Motorola servers. We will keep you updated with any breaking news on the 2.1 rollout. (via GSM Arena)
