HTC and Bharti Airtel have teamed up to release the very first Brew MP powered phone, the HTC Smart. Qualcomm’s Brew Mobile Platform is new specially designed OS for the low-cost smartphone category. It’s meant to give low powered smartphones a full featured, customizable experience. HTC is the first to use the Brew OS in a commercial setting. The HTC Smart features a 300 MHz processor and has 2.8-inch TFT-LCD touch-sensitive screen with QVGA resolution. With 256 MB of AM phone has 256 MB ROM and microSD slot, and a 3.0 megapixel camera.
It also boasts HTC’s SenseUI and has added something Scenes, which offers special configurations that reflect different moods in your daily self. Bharti Airtel is one of Asia’s biggest wireless carriers, and hopes that the HTC Smart will appeal to middle class customers that want a full feature smartphone at reasonable price. Also India is the fastest growing smartphone market in the world, they expect the the Smart to do very well. The HTC Smart will launch in 30 Indian cities and carry a price of 9,990 Rupees ($222).
