It makes sense since Palm just announced a GSM version of its webOS powered Palm Pre and Palm Pixi for AT&T. It looks like The Global Certification Forum agrees, they put their stamp of approval on 2 new Palm devices. The 2 devices that got approved had a similar model number we are familiar to, P101UEU and P121UEU. No real in-depth details but both are quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as dual-band UMTS/HSDPA on the 2100/900MHz frequencies.
This would normally be a good thing for any major manufacturer, but we all know Palm is struggling a bit with the sales of the Palm Pre and Pix. We just have to hope enough European carriers will decide to offer them in enough countries. More and likely the 2 device will be a European version of the updated Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus. This also comes after the news that China Telecom will make the Palm Pre available to customers in July. (via Pre Central)
