It didn’t take long for Microsoft to drop the “series” from its new and highly anticipated Windows Phone 7 campaign. The Windows Phone Team has just announced via Twitter, that the word “series” would be no more. This is the second time Microsoft has changed it Windows mobile product name. Anyways the tweet said:
“Tis the season for Series finales. We’ve got one too – dropping the ‘Series’ and keeping the ‘Windows Phone 7.’ Done.”
Now in most cases a name change for a major product line is not always a good thing, especially one that is the the middle of totally revamping and re-imaging themselves. But this is something that Microsoft should of done from the get go. When Microsoft announced the Windows Phone 7, the whole “series” thing immediately went into question. For the most part all the blogs and new outlets automatically dropped the the “series” and called it Windows Phone 7 anyways. It also came a good time, if they waited any longer, Microsoft would have a lot of ads and commercials to re-brand.
