If there is one highly anticipated triple A title set for release this year, its definitely Halo: Reach, the next installment in the incredibly popular future shooter, Xbox exclusive Halo franchise. Today we get an in-depth behind the scenes look at, “explosive new gameplay footage” and “insightful, colorful commentary directly from the Bungie design team covering the process of creating new weapons, game modes and multiplayer features in Halo: Reach.” (video embedded below)
We have also learned that the Halo: Reach beta will be available exclusively on the Xbox 360 on May 3rd and is expected to turn on mid-morning PST according to developer Bungie’s Twitter feed. However, the beta codes are available only to those with copies of Halo 3: ODST. The beta will only offer XBL matchmaking with no LAN or custom available initially.
Bungie and Microsoft have also announced two special editions of Halo: Reach including the “limited” and “Legendary” editions. The limited edition will retail for $80 and include the game, manual, and a “recovered ONI ‘black box’ will house the game disc. It also includes Elite armor available in multiplayer, as well as a bunch of “other classified documents and effects that unravel long-held secrets from the Halo universe.”
The “Legendary” edition will come with everything included in the “limited” edition as well as a 10-inch, 10-pound Noble Team statue and multiplayer Spartan armor. The statues are reportedly going to be numbered and made individually. Both special editions are available for pre-order now for release “sometime this fall”.
