It looks like Google has made it official, the Nexus One will not becoming to Verizon. It looked like for while that Google was going to offer the Nexus One at a subsidized price, just like it did with T-Mobile, but almost a month after the speculated launch date, Google has pulled the plug on the Nexus One all together. Actually since the Droid Incredible was announced last week, many thought that this was going to be end of Nexus One saga anyways. Now on Google’s Nexus One purchasing page, they state that exact fact..
For Verizon’s network, you can buy the Droid Incredible by HTC, a powerful Android phone and similarly feature-packed cousin of the Nexus One.
And they have updated the Nexus One blog with a similar statement..
In the US, if you’ve been waiting for the Nexus One for Verizon Wireless’ network, head over to http://phones.verizonwireless.com/htc/incredible to pre-order the Droid Incredible by HTC, a powerful new Android phone and a cousin of the Nexus One that is similarly feature-packed. It will be available in stores on April 29th.
I don’t think too many Verizon customers are that upset. The Droid Incredible is almost an exact carbon copy of the Nexus One, in terms of specs and hardware. I mean except for a little difference in design, the only real difference is that the Incredible has HTC’s Sense UI on top of Android 2.1, where as the Nexus One is just stock Android 2.1. So if any Verizon customers that were again patiently playing the waiting game with Verizon, you can now officially pre-order the Droid Incredible now or wait a few days till Thursday, which is the official launch day for the Incredible.
