A new and “top-secret” search engine named “Salangwho” is all set to launch very soon. The search engine is reportedly being built in New York and is to be launched in a few weeks. To get a feel of what we are talking about, point your browser to Slangwho. We have reports that it may go live on May 14th.
There have been many rumors about this search engine for months now, yet no one knows what is it all about, who is funding it and so on. You can have a look at these teaser videos on Vimeo suggesting towards what exactly is it:
Slangwho is differentiating from other search engines by boasting about “people powered” theory. It says that search results from big search engines like Google are not tailored enough to the individual user. The videos depict that “Slangwho results are determined by users… not a box”.
Anyhow, unless more details become available the search engine sounds ambitious and challenging at the same time. We cannot give our full review about the “people powered” Slangwho so soon. But yes, Google still has in it the charm that attracts millions of loyal users and clicks everyday. And if we comment on the Slangwho’s theory, anything powered by people is tough to scale to the amounts Google presently is.
