While the performance of computer keyboards and their response rates might have increased, their overall use is still the same. The most expensive keyboards today are merely keyboards with added buttons and advanced ergonomics. Surely these keyboards benefit computer gamers but to everybody else, the minute changes are insignificant.
A much needed revolution in computer keyboards will be Eeekeyboard by Asus. The product was announced in January 2009 and had everybody excited. Now it is finally available for purchase through Amazon.
So what exactly is so special about EeeKeyboard? It has a touchscreen and can play video! EeeKeyboard features a 5″ 800×480 multi touchscreen and runs Windows XP Home as its operating system.
The full specifications of the keyboard are available. The device can stream 720p video up to a 5 meter range – something very impressive. The board has a built-in processor, storage space, and RAM; it even has video outlets which can be sent to monitors. Ultra-wideband (UWB) technology will be used by the device to stream data which Asus says brings higher data transfer rates.
One aspect of the EeeKeyboard that has us all disappointed is its battery life which is only 4 hours. Considering the drawback, the price listed on Amazon seems too steep (~$600). Best of luck to Asus selling this keyboard in the market.
