There has been a lot of Android tablets announced since the new year, not too many of those have actually gone into any kind of mass production. One of those companies that got their act together is Archos. Know for making portable multimedia gadgets, Archos has already got their foot in the door with the first Android tablet, the Archos 5. Then back at CeBIT 2010, the company showed off a 7″ inch tablet that looked like the big brother to the Archos 5, but Archos 7 was going to be a bit different. The idea behind the Archos 7 was affordability in bigger package. They were able to that with scaled down processor and little less RAM, but still keep the large screen experience.
Time passed, then word came that it was going to be available in Europe first sometime in early April, we heard that it was going to ship in the US by the end of that month. Once the time came and still no word and no certain ship date or even a pre-order date, everyone figured it was going to just never going to materialize in the US. Well the good word came today for tablet fans and Android fans alike. Archos dropped a press release on us this morning will everything we have been waiting to hear. According to the company, the Archos 7 is going to be the first of its kind, a large screen Android tablet that we can actually purchase.

It will be available for exclusive pre-order on Amazon now, and will ship in mid-May. But for all other retailers, it will go on sale in June for $199.99.
