HTC Desire Z is one of the best-selling smartphone with some amazing features such as 3.7 inch touchscreen display, 1 GHz processor, slide-out QWERTY keyboard and more. Sadly, this handset is powered by the Android 2.2 (FroYo) OS and the old HTC Sense. If you want to try the Android Gingerbread and HTC Sense 2.1 on your HTC Desire Z smartphone, then you won’t have to wait for months, since the guys at VillainROM have recently released a new Gingerbread ROM with HTC Sense 2.1 for the HTC Desire Z and G2 smartphones.
This ROM is based on the Huashan leak and the Wildfire S leak, which means that you will get the Android Gingerbread and HTC Sense 2.1 on your Desire Z smartphone. As usual, some features works perfectly, while some features does not at the moment. Check out the complete list of known issues below.
- Camcorder hangs when pressing record
- Bluetooth does not work
- HTC Hub fails to log in
- The “card” mail widget does not work
- Landscape mode in Sense is bugged (thanks to HTC for this), I would advice against using this too often
- Question mark doesn’t work on hardware keyboard
If you don’t want to wait for the official update, then you can just head over to this page at Villainrom, to learn more on the installation process.
